How To Use This Site

This site has been designed to enable bands, picture editors and other users to easily search for and view pertinent images:

 

  • First, it is recommended that you create an account in the 'My Account' page - this will enable you to add images to a personal lightbox.
  • Next, browse the site for images
  • Then, add your chosen images to your lightbox using the tick box below each image - this will remember selected images when you revisit the site, and can be accessed by me, providing a streamlined process allowing me to see the images that you require.
  • Next, contact me using the form on the 'Contact' page, stating your requirements - I can then provide you with terms, price details, and images of the required format and resolution.

 

Image Pricing

My charges depend on the use images will be put to, and will be quoted on a job by job basis. Therefore, in order to quote a price for the use of my images, I will need to know the following information:

 

  • Use - i.e. magazine article, book, album cover, website etc.
  • User - Band, Picture Editor etc.
  • Distribution - Local, National, International
  • Intended image size - i.e. A4, A3, A2, Magazine full page, Magazine half page, CD cover, Concert Program etc.
  • Total circulation - Print circulation, readership circulation, pressing running etc.
  • Duration - Amount of time you would like to use the image - e.g. one time publication.

 

Licences will, typically, be given for one-time non-exclusive use. However, exclusive use can be arranged. Please contact me to discuss your requirements.

Images for web use will be licenced for use on one domain only (i.e. www.yourdomain.com).

Multi-domain or multi-media use licensing can be arranged.

Images licenced for web usage must be re-licensed for additional use on other domains or in other publications. A web usage licence does not include entitlement to resell the image or reuse the image in any way. If additional use of the image is required or intended then please contact me to discuss.

Images can be adjusted for specific usage as required.

 

Lightbox

You can save images to your own personal Lightbox for comparison or later review, but you must have created an account to do so.

If you decide that you would like to arrange or discuss licensing of photographs or images in your lightbox then please contact me via the 'Contact' page with your contact information and requirements. I can access your personal lightbox and will then contact you in due course.

Please note that in order to use the lightbox function you must have created an account first by visiting the 'My Account' area of this site.

 

Commissions and Projects

Photographic commissions are generally priced on the basis of a daily rate plus expenses (e.g. travel, lodging, etc.). The daily rate includes access to all images arising from the commission for use as specified prior to project commencement. Image use will be specified and agreed upfront and copyright of all images remains with Ben Smith/Ben Smith Photography unless otherwise agreed. This arrangement can be tailored to clients requirements in order to reduce the total cost of the project or to allow more flexibility in the final use of the image.
